Social Networking

 

I have just read two different articles, Chron-Media and Teachbead. These two articles show the good and the bad effects of social media. Personally, I think that social networking is a good thing for people, especially young teens. However, whenever social networking is used in the wrong way things can get bad. For example, in the first Chron-Media article titled, "The Negative Effect of Social Networking", it talks about how cyberbullying is one well known negative side effect of social networking. The article "The devastation of these online attacks can leave deep mental scars", was stated. I think that this is so true because anything can happen to not only the victim or perpetrator of the situation but also the families that they have. Although cyber bullying makes participating in social networks so bad, they can also be very useful. Take the second article for example. One way that social networks can be useful is for small businesses. Nowadays not many people watch as much television or read ads in the newspapers. Today, many people use social networks to get more service and/or customers. For example, when some one wants to sale some of their old clothing or a game they just do not use anymore instead of having a yard sale they can just simply post it on their public Facebook and then BOOM!, you got people offering you all kind of money. Social networking can be pretty cool thing it all depends on how you use it. But no matter how you use it, one thing you should always remember is that once it is posted, it is there forever!
